Geography
Egypt is located on the continent of Africa, where it has a coastal position and is bordered by the Gaza Strip, Israel, Libya, Sudan, the Mediterranean Sea and Red Sea. Africa is the second largest continent in the world, it has 54 countries, stretches across a total area size of 30,370,000 km2 and forms 20.4% of the landmass of the world. Egypt is located on the continent of Africa but part of it, the Sinai Peninsula, is situated in Asia.

Climate
Egypt has a desert climate that is characterized by hot, arid summers that see little rainfall, and moderate winter seasons. The geography of Egypt is dominated by desert land which encompasses the Nile River and delta. Egypt controls the Sinai Peninsula which is located between the Red Sea in the south and the Mediterranean Sea in the north. The Sinai Peninsula forms a land bridge between Africa and Asia, it occupies approximately 60,000 km2 and is in fact, the only part of Egypt that is located on the continent of Asia. The lowest point of Egypt is the Qattara Depression at -133m, and the highest point of elevation is Mount Catherine at 2,629m.
Culture
The official language of Egypt is Arabic. English and French are taught to the educated classes of this country.
The main religion of Egypt is Muslim at approximately 90% of the population. The vast majority are Sunni Muslims; one of the main branches of Islam. People belonging to the Islamic religion worship Allah. In the English language, the word Allah refers to God in Islam. Those belonging to the religion of Islam believe in one god. Most of Egypt’s population are Muslim and follow the practices of Islam. Around 10% are Christian. The rest of the population either belongs to other religions or no religion at all.
